Dorset [Mark Draper]

I am a chartered Clinical Psychologist with over 15 years experience in a range of settings including charities, NHS, and other government agencies; including working as a Consultant Clinical Psychologist leading a busy inner-city NHS psychology service. I currently work part-time in in an NHS acute mental health service supporting people with complex mental health difficulties.

I have been trained to a high level in a range of evidence-based therapies, which I integrate to develop bespoke treatments tailored to the individual. My overarching framework is Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT), as it enables me to coherently integrate the practical and effective strategies from Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) along with the depth and relational aspects drawn from psychoanalytic approaches. I also practice Eye-Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, which has been shown to be an effective way of resolving and healing from past trauma.

I am experienced in working with adults who are struggling with a wide range of complex mental health issues, as well as those who have come for therapy because they are experiencing a challenging time in their life right now.

I believe all of us have patterns of relating to ourselves and others that we have acquired over time and through experience. Many of these are useful and adaptive but they can sometimes be unhelpful or become stuck. My experience has shown me that developing a greater awareness of these patterns and working them through in therapy enables people to create meaningful change in their lives.

I can offer face-to-face or online appointments.

I am primarily available on Thursdays, with limited availability on other days.
