Two more people have completed the CAT North training with one more who is due to finish soon. The fourth member of the 2000 intake has just gone on maternity leave to have her second baby during the training so her completion date will be delayed. We have two people in their second year, one with CAT North and one with the London training. Once they have completed we will have 9 CAT practitioners, three of whom are on maternity leave, so you can see that we have a very fertile group.
In addition we offer a supervisory experience to 9 further therapists in three supervision groups and hope that some of them will go on to formal training. We also have a peer supervision group of 4 therapists. There is still only 1 accredited supervisor in Scotland and we have been trying to take steps to rectify this. 4 of us have been meeting regularly over the past 6 months to read and discuss supervision articles and issues arising from them. One of this group has done the 6 months co-supervision requirement and will go on to supervise a group with supervision when she returns from maternity leave. We hope to have two or three accredited supervisors soon.
We have been joined by a consultant psychiatrist with a CAT practitioners accreditation and that has brought new blood to the existing group.
In February we held a teaching day on Supervision issues which was well attended by a mixed group of CAT and non CAT clinicians and there is interest in Glasgow and Aberdeen in pursuing some experience with CAT but we are still unable to provide supervisors who have the time to travel. This is the next step. Alongside this we hope to run a Scotland based two day Introduction to CAT soon. I would like to say this year but have learnt to be a bit tentative about our predicted dates - we may have more pregnancies!!!
