About the team:

Lewisham is offering an exciting opportunity to be part of a transformation of psychological therapies services.  This is a newly created post for a CAT Practitioner/ Therapist to be involved in integrating psychological therapies for complex needs into the step 4 services, as well as maintain links with community teams and PD services.  This greater integration between services has fostered new partnerships between psychological therapists and community mental health services, as well as strengthen existing relationships with GPs and non-statutory services. 

Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT), has a long-standing history and active presence in Lewisham and SLAM.  It is a valued and respected model of therapy and there is a commitment to continued investment into CAT as part of our growing therapies provision.  The successful candidate will be supervised and managed by the CAT lead and will benefit from being part of a close and active local and trust wide CAT network.   Also have close links with ACAT SIGs.   

About the role:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated CAT therapist/practitioner, who is committed to delivering a high standard of therapy, assessments, promoting CAT in the service, and working with a diverse community.   The post holder will work closely with the CAT lead to put together a long-term strategy for service delivery/development, research and training to community teams.  

Step 4 IAPT psychological therapies are focused on the needs of service users presenting with complex needs such as pertaining to a personality disorder,  chronic and severe mood and anxiety disorders.  It comprises of a multidisciplinary team which include psychologists, counsellors, and psychotherapists. 

Lewisham is a diverse and culturally vibrant borough.  The service provides psychological care to an ethnically diverse group of clients, where English may not be their first language. Many clients present with multiple problems including social, housing and employment issues. We have close links with our sister IAPT services within SLaM, sharing good practice and training opportunities.  We are involved in initiatives to engage different groups within our community, such as people with long term health conditions, perinatal difficulties, student population at Goldsmiths University, men’s groups, BAME communities, to name a few.    

We are a diverse, friendly service that aims to listen to and value our staff and aims to promote opportunities to progress people in terms of their continued professional development when these arise. We work closely with GPs, primary care mental health services (PCMHS), and secondary care services where skills can be developed in the experience of liaising with professionals from a variety of settings.  

The post-holder will work in the service for 5 days, there is a need to be able to work flexibly, with face-to-face session currently available at The Lind Clinic in Deptford, SE8 as well as remote/online therapy, to provide a service which is accessible to our clients.
