Applications are invited now for this training, which is run by Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust Psychotherapy Service but is also open to non-Trust employees.
It is a 2-year part-time course accredited by ACAT and Sheffield Hallam University.
The course will consist of fortnightly seminars and skills workshops on Wednesdays at Heatherwood Hospital in Ascot, supervised clinical work by an accredited ACAT supervisor, as well as a personal CAT therapy.
There will be some clinical placements available within Berkshire Healthcare Trust, although some trainees may choose to organise their own clinical work, as long as it is supervised by an ACAT accredited supervisor.
Who For? The course is aimed at those with a core professional training in the caring professions who wish to gain the necessary CAT skills to practice these within the context of their core profession.
Practitioner Training: A 2-year course leading to accreditation with the Association for Cognitive Analytic Therapy (ACAT) and a Postgraduate Diploma in CAT awarded by Sheffield Hallam University (SHU). With this you will be able to become a full member of ACAT and eligible to practice CAT within your core profession. On successful completion of the course there is also the option of studying for an MSc through SHU. Course graduates will also be eligible to apply for a further 2 years’ Psychotherapy Training in CAT, which on successful
completion leads to registration with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).
Course Aim: The aim of the course is to deliver high quality training in
order to provide trainees with a clear understanding of CAT theory and an ability to apply it confidently and competently within the context of an empathic therapeutic relationship.
